Labourer – Empty Homes (North Yorkshire)

About the role

Join the Empty Homes team of Broadacres Housing Association and travel across North Yorkshire to prepare newly refurbished properties for handover. This permanent, full‑time position involves a mix of heavy‑duty cleaning, basic maintenance and finishing touches to ensure each home is ready for new occupants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive builders’ cleans, removing dust, debris and leftover materials.
• Assist with minor repairs such as filling, patch painting, gutter cleaning and garden work.
• Handle physical tasks including moving bulky items, lifting heavy loads and installing loft components.
• Deliver the final sparkle clean – polishing fittings, cleaning windows and ensuring every room looks fresh and welcoming.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Labourer or Clearance Labourer (or a strong willingness to learn).
• Ability to work safely at height, climb ladders and handle physically demanding duties.
• Team‑player who can collaborate with colleagues and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Self‑motivated with a commitment to quality and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Basic cleaning techniques for construction sites.
• Experience with minor carpentry, painting and garden maintenance.
• Safe handling of tools and equipment for lifting and installation.
