Laundry Assistant – Part‑time weekends

About the role

This part‑time weekend position supports the residents of Holmes House, a specialist care home in South Wigston, by providing high‑quality laundry services. You will work within a caring team to ensure clothing and linen are clean, safe and presented to a professional standard.

Key responsibilities

• Processing residents' personal clothing and household laundry to a high standard.
• Applying thermal disinfection and strict infection‑control procedures where required.
• Ironing and pressing laundry items to a professional finish.
• Checking and reporting any repair needs for clothing or linen to the Hotel Services Manager.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy laundry area, equipment and linen cupboards, and ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Following health and safety procedures and reporting any risks promptly.
• Providing courteous service to residents, colleagues, families and visitors.

Required profile

• Genuine caring nature with a desire to make a real difference for residents.
• Patient, understanding and respectful of individual abilities, especially for those with dementia.
• Willingness to learn; prior laundry experience is desirable but not essential.
