Laundry Assistant (Weekend)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Laundry Assistant to join our housekeeping team at a luxury care home in Matlock. The role is focused on weekend shifts (Saturday & Sunday, 8 am‑2 pm) and involves caring for residents’ clothing and linen to maintain comfort, dignity and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Wash, dry, iron and correctly return residents’ clothing and linen.
• Label and sort items to ensure they are easily identifiable.
• Maintain a clean, organised laundry area and follow all health‑and‑safety and infection‑control procedures.
• Operate industrial washing machines and ironing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support the wider housekeeping team by adhering to established laundry processes.

Required profile

• Positive, reliable attitude with good attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Clear communication skills.
• Understanding of hygiene and infection‑control practices is beneficial.
• Previous experience in a laundry or similar environment is welcomed but not essential.

Required skills

• Operating industrial washing machines.
• Using ironing equipment.
• Labeling and sorting laundry items.
