Law Cost Draftsperson

About the role

Our client, an award‑winning law firm, is looking for a Law Cost Draftsperson to join its established costs department. You will support senior case handlers by preparing a wide range of drafting documents, from formal bills to budgets, for personal injury and clinical negligence matters.

Key responsibilities

• Support costs case handlers with a full range of drafting requirements.
• Draft formal bills for Detailed Assessment.
• Prepare N260 statements of costs.
• Produce risk assessments.
• Assist with the preparation of budgets.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years’ experience in personal injury claimant costs.
• Legal qualification (LLB, GDL or LPC) completed.
• Proven drafting skills for Precedent H, R and Q and finalising formal bills.
• Ability to work to targets and adapt to rapid schedule changes.
• Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and Detailed Assessment process.
• Excellent analytical attention to detail and clear communication.

Required skills

• Proclaim Case Management System.
• Costs Master software.
• Microsoft Office suite.

What we offer

• Salary between £35,000 and £45,000 per year.
• Standard hours 8:30‑17:30 Mon‑Thu, 8:30‑17:00 Fri.
• Hybrid working – remote after probation.
• 23‑26 days holiday plus birthday and Christmas closure days.
