LCL Export Operator – Freight Forwarding

About the role

We are seeking an LCL Export Operator to manage the full export Less‑than‑Container‑Load (LCL) process for a global logistics provider. Based in Basildon, you will work closely with carriers, warehouses and overseas agents to ensure efficient and profitable shipments.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the end‑to‑end LCL export workflow using the company’s in‑house system.
• Book containers with carriers and obtain hazardous approvals where required.
• Liaise with UK warehouses to schedule loading and issue loading manifests.
• Prepare and send Bill of Lading instructions and verify Master Bills of Lading for accuracy.
• Send pre‑alerts to overseas agents within 48 hours of sailing.
• Enter cost estimates in the correct accounting month and monitor profit sharing where applicable.
• Document operational issues and keep the Export Manager informed.
• Resolve customer invoice queries and dispute incorrect supplier invoices.
• Close files after confirming all charges and maximising profitability.
• Answer telephone calls promptly and support booking confirmations and haulage arrangements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in sea/ocean export freight‑forwarding operations.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, handle changing priorities and work under pressure.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional communication.

• Competitive salary between £28,000 and £32,000 per year, dependent on experience.
