Lead AI Engineer

About the role

This is a newly created, hands‑on Lead AI Engineer position within a fast‑growing technology business that is undergoing an AI‑first transformation. You will lead a small engineering team while staying deeply involved in coding, architecture and technical decision‑making, shaping the engineering strategy alongside senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small engineering team, fostering a culture of speed and innovation.
• Drive AI‑assisted software development and enforce engineering best practices.
• Remain hands‑on with coding, system architecture and conduct code reviews.
• Improve existing systems, tooling, and development processes.
• Build secure, AI‑ready data foundations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to rapidly deliver new features.
• Support future hiring and growth of the engineering team.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on software engineering background.
• Experience with .NET, Java, Python or TypeScript.
• Practical use of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex or similar.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring developers.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, APIs and modern engineering practices.
• Proactive, product‑focused mindset with excellent stakeholder communication.
