Lead C# Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Lead C# Developer to own the technical vision of a high‑performance, real‑time platform for one of the UK’s most recognised digital brands. In this newly created leadership role you will define architecture, mentor a small engineering team and drive cloud modernisation across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the technical vision and architecture for a high‑performance, real‑time backend platform.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of three engineers, promoting best practices and quality‑first engineering.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technology decisions with business objectives and shape long‑term roadmaps.
• Design and build scalable, distributed systems using C#/.NET and AWS services.
• Drive cloud modernisation initiatives, including containerisation, infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD improvements.
• Improve observability, reliability and performance of the platform through monitoring and automated testing.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering scalable, distributed systems in an agile, Git‑based environment.
• Strong background in C#/.NET development, REST APIs and cloud‑native design on AWS.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases, data modelling and caching technologies such as Redis.
• Experience with real‑time or state‑driven applications and test‑driven development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small engineering team and influence architectural decisions.
