Lead Data Engineer – Security Data & AI Lab

About the role

Lloyds Banking Group is building a Security Data and AI Lab within its Chief Security Office. As Lead Data Engineer you will shape and drive the lab’s data engineering capability, delivering secure, scalable data platforms that power AI‑driven threat detection.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the data engineering strategy and roadmap for the lab.
• Design, build and operate scalable data pipelines and platforms across cloud environments.
• Embed secure‑by‑design principles into all data solutions.
• Provide production‑grade data foundations for AI, machine learning and advanced analytics.
• Collaborate with Security, Cloud, Architecture and Product teams.
• Mentor and lead a team of engineers, fostering a high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading technical delivery and mentoring engineers in a senior or lead capacity.
• Strong background designing, building and operating scalable data platforms in complex environments.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP or similar).
• Deep understanding of data modelling, data quality, metadata, lineage and governance.
• Ability to make pragmatic, risk‑aware technical decisions balancing resilience, speed and maintainability.
