Lead Design Engineer – Multi‑Utility (Hybrid)

About the role

This is a hybrid, full‑time position based in Ashtead, leading a multi‑disciplinary design team for a fast‑growing multi‑utility provider. You will oversee electric, gas and water design activities while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a design team of five direct reports covering electricity, gas and water networks.
• Run Tier 1 Assurance to verify that adopted assets meet regulatory and quality standards.
• Conduct design reviews, issue technical approvals to developers and provide technical support to construction partners.
• Liaise with stakeholders across the utility sector to guide project delivery.

Required profile

• Electrical design experience at 33 kV or higher within a utility‑scale environment.
• Background in utility design (IDNO, ICP, DNO or similar) is preferred.
• Proven management experience with strong interpersonal skills.
• Able to commute to Ashtead for 2‑3 days per week.
