Lead Engineer - Powertrain Controls Embedded Software

About the role

Lotus UK Manufacturing is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive the development of powertrain control systems for our high‑performance sports cars, including the Emira and the all‑electric Evija. You will lead technical work, support client programmes, and help shape the department’s processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement manual C‑code for engine and transmission control systems.
• Create control algorithm specifications, validation criteria and test plans.
• Develop calibration procedures and perform unit testing and initial calibration.
• Investigate and resolve engine or transmission control issues.
• Integrate powertrain control systems within the vehicle electrical architecture.
• Support manufacturing and after‑sales teams with powertrain control queries.
• Lead smaller projects or client programmes and produce technical reports.
• Assist in the career development of junior engineers.

Required profile

• Significant experience in embedded C development for automotive powertrain applications.
• Strong understanding of emissions, performance targets and calibration processes.
• Ability to work on cross‑functional teams and communicate technical concepts.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe for testing or supplier visits.
