Lead Gardener – Garden Maintenance & Soft Landscaping

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Gardener to oversee garden maintenance and soft‑landscaping projects for a portfolio of residential and commercial properties in Putney, South West London. The successful candidate will lead small on‑site teams, ensure high standards of horticultural care, and deliver excellent client service.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out high‑quality garden maintenance across a range of residential and commercial sites.
• Lead and support a Gardener, typically working in teams of two.
• Maintain up to three gardens per day to a consistently high standard.
• Perform core horticultural tasks including pruning, lawn care, plant care, and border maintenance.
• Operate and maintain power tools safely (strimmers, hedge cutters, mowers, blowers).
• Identify pests, diseases and plant health issues and apply appropriate treatments.
• Implement soft‑landscaping schemes as required.
• Communicate professionally with clients, providing reliable and friendly service.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in practical amenity horticulture.
• Strong knowledge of plants, pruning, lawn care and seasonal tasks.
• Experience leading or mentoring garden staff.
• Well‑presented, punctual and professional.
• Full UK driving licence.
