Lead Gas Engineer

About the role

As a member of the Emergency Response Team, you will be the first point of contact at customers' homes during gas‑related emergencies. You will represent the brand while ensuring safety and peace of mind for vulnerable and concerned residents.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and coordinate with emergency services on behalf of customers.
• Install, replace and maintain gas meters for residential and commercial clients.
• Carry out high‑rise gas safety surveys and fit cooker safety valves.
• Test, purge and commission pipework, ensuring compliance with gas safety regulations.
• Work a rotating shift pattern averaging 40 hours per week, including weekends and unsociable hours.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Full, valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong knowledge of gas systems, regulations and safety protocols.

Required skills

• CCN1 or CMA1 qualification (mandatory).
• MET1 qualification (beneficial but not essential).
• Proficiency in testing, purging and commissioning gas pipework.
• Good understanding of gas appliance safety, standards, legislation and health‑and‑safety codes.
