Lead Maintenance Fitter – 4 on 4 off shift

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Fitter to join a fast‑paced industrial processing plant in Sittingbourne. You will lead preventative and reactive maintenance activities, minimise downtime and support safe, efficient production.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant machinery.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
• Fault‑find mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Monitor equipment performance and suggest improvements to reduce downtime.
• Maintain spare‑part stock levels and report shortages.
• Prepare maintenance reports and conduct shift handovers.
• Ensure all work follows health & safety procedures.
• Support housekeeping standards in workshop and operational areas.
• Liaise with production, management and fabrication teams as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Lead Fitter or in a maintenance role.
• Background in manufacturing, processing or heavy‑industry environments.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems and PLCs.
• MIG welding experience is advantageous.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to prioritise workload.
• Good communication and computer skills.
• Strong understanding of health & safety procedures.
• Forklift licence beneficial (training can be provided).
