Lead Mechanical Engineer - A&D

About the role

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer – A&D you will be responsible for delivering best‑practice mechanical engineering for semiconductor manufacturing equipment while leading a team of engineers. Reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineering Manager, you will guide projects from concept through volume production.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical delivery of mechanical engineering expertise for projects, subsystems and technology developments.
• Lead and motivate a team of approximately six mechanical engineers.
• Promote best‑practice engineering to improve time, cost, quality and compliance.
• Define and distribute work packages across cross‑functional teams and ensure successful milestone achievement.
• Ensure designs meet stakeholder requirements and comply with relevant regulations, directives and standards.
• Develop subject‑matter expertise in semiconductor equipment mechanical engineering.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (BSc minimum, MSc desirable) or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status or commitment to achieve it.
• Significant experience in mechanical engineering and design within a regulated industry.
• Understanding of product safety and compliance standards such as EN 61511, SEMI S2 and SEMI S10.
• Familiarity with safety and design review methods (PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA).
• Willingness to pursue further professional development.
