Lead Mobile Engineer (Contract, London)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Lead Mobile Engineer to drive the strategy, development, and delivery of mobile applications for our clients. The role is contract‑based, outside IR35, and requires on‑site presence in London three days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high‑performing mobile engineering team.
• Collaborate with product, design, and cross‑functional teams to create world‑class mobile experiences.
• Define and propose state‑of‑the‑art architectures for new apps or evolution of existing ones.
• Oversee development, deployment, and maintenance of all mobile applications.
• Establish robust CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and app stability metrics.
• Partner with Product Management and Design to scope features and set technical direction.
• Translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
• Work closely with backend and web teams to ensure seamless API integration.
• Stay current with industry trends and assess emerging technologies for future mobile strategy.

Required profile

• 10+ years of mobile engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong communication skills in English and strategic thinking.
• Proven track record delivering and scaling complex mobile apps with millions of users.
• Experience in high‑growth or consumer‑facing environments.

Required skills

• Native iOS development (Swift).
• Native Android development (Kotlin).
• Experience with React Native, Flutter, Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMP) or Compose Multiplatform (CMP) – at least one deep expertise.
• REST and GraphQL API integration.
• Mobile architecture and design patterns (MVVM, MVI).
• CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Agile development methodologies.
