Lead Oracle Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an SC‑cleared Lead Oracle Infrastructure Engineer to join a major UK public sector organisation on a short‑term contract. You will provide technical leadership for mission‑critical Oracle and cloud platforms, supporting both day‑to‑day operations and strategic infrastructure initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery, support and continuous improvement of Oracle infrastructure services.
• Provide technical guidance and senior escalation support to engineering teams.
• Design, implement and optimise Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services.
• Deliver enhancements across Oracle database and cloud platforms.
• Support infrastructure strategy, road‑maps and service‑improvement projects.
• Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to meet operational and technical requirements.
• Contribute to risk management and mitigation planning.
• Promote automation, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps best practices.
• Mentor colleagues and develop internal OCI and Oracle expertise.

Required profile

• SC security clearance.
• Extensive experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Exadata.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams in a regulated environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and experience handling major service incidents.
• Ability to work collaboratively with suppliers and cross‑functional stakeholders.
