Lead Quality Engineer

About the role

As Lead Quality Engineer you will own the Plant Quality Management System and drive continuous improvement across our hydraulic motion‑control facility in Birmingham. You will ensure compliance with ISO standards, lead audits, and support the plant’s quality culture.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the Plant Quality Management System, covering ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001.
• Create, update and track internal directives, regulations and documentation.
• Lead the QMM7 team and coordinate internal/external audits, problem‑solving activities and FMEAs.
• Manage Plant 8D reports, control plans and other problem‑solving tools.
• Follow up audit findings, drive corrective actions and report to DC/QM and DC‑CH/QMM.
• Distribute quality targets to value streams, organise trainings and Q‑activities (Q‑Day, competitions, campaigns).
• Lead QMS projects such as archiving, 14Q principle implementation and lean‑standardisation support.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials Engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience with quality management systems and ISO standards.
• Proven leadership and team‑leading abilities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in an international environment.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
