Lead Risk Software Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer to join our Athena Rates development team, focusing on risk and P&L frameworks within the Rates line of business. In this role you will architect, design, develop and integrate sophisticated solutions that support trading desks and back‑office functions across rates products.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain robust software solutions for rates trading activities.
• Collaborate with quantitative analysts, traders and risk managers to integrate systems across front‑, middle‑ and back‑office processing.
• Develop scalable, high‑performance code handling large volumes of market data and complex financial calculations.
• Implement risk metrics, P&L attribution frameworks and data pipelines connecting trading systems with downstream consumers.
• Participate in architectural decisions, code reviews and technical design sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on Python development experience.
• Strong preference for candidates with a financial services background.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, including object‑oriented design, testing methodologies and version‑control practices.
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable code within large, complex codebases.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to gather requirements from business users.
• Willingness to work on legacy applications when required.
