Lead SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School Hub

About the role

We are seeking a Lead SEND Teaching Assistant to manage the SEND Hub within a welcoming primary school in Greenwich. The Hub provides a calm, structured environment for pupils with autism, social‑emotional, communication and sensory processing needs, supporting them to access mainstream learning successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day operation of the SEND Hub, ensuring safety and a supportive atmosphere.
• Organise and deliver tailored activities, sensory breaks and targeted interventions.
• Coordinate and supervise support staff working within the Hub.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, communication and behaviour strategies.
• Facilitate smooth transitions between the Hub and mainstream classrooms.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider school team to maintain consistent support.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant in a primary setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small team and manage a specialised support environment.
• Strong organisational skills and a proactive, adaptable approach.
• Excellent communication skills for working with pupils, staff and families.

Required skills

• Knowledge of autism, sensory processing and social‑emotional needs.
• Experience planning and delivering individualized interventions.
• Ability to use behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
