Lead Software Engineer

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing cyber‑security company that protects critical infrastructure worldwide. As Lead Engineer you will act as the technical right‑hand to the Head of Development, shaping architecture, setting engineering standards and driving AI‑assisted development while staying hands‑on with Golang code.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own technical solutions and detailed system designs alongside the Head of Development.
• Lead backend development using Golang and modern micro‑service patterns.
• Mentor and raise the technical standards of the engineering team.
• Champion secure software engineering practices and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Drive AI‑assisted development from rapid prototyping to code review.
• Build secure, scalable APIs and distributed systems, improving performance and reliability.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience with Golang and micro‑service architectures.
• Proven technical leadership and architecture design skills.
• Security‑first mindset with experience in regulated or cyber‑security environments (preferred).
• Confidence mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction.

• Salary £70,000‑£90,000 per year plus bonus
