Lead Teacher & Manager – Outdoor Nursery & Alternative Education

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based in a nature‑focused early years setting on the edge of Dartmoor. You will combine teaching, leadership and management to deliver high‑quality outdoor learning experiences for children.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the daily running of the outdoor nursery and ensure smooth operations.
• Support, supervise and develop a small team of early years staff.
• Design and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned outdoor learning activities.
• Oversee EYFS planning, safeguarding and Ofsted compliance.
• Maintain strong relationships with families, professionals and external partners.
• Manage administration, attendance records and key reporting duties.

Required profile

• Level 6 Early Years qualification (QTS desirable).
• Proven leadership experience in Early Years or Primary education.
• Strong knowledge of EYFS standards and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS.

Required skills

• Full UK driving licence.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience of Forest School or outdoor education (desirable).
• Understanding of SEND provision and alternative education approaches (desirable).
