Learning Mentor

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Learning Mentor to join our supportive SEND school in SE11, starting September 2026. The role focuses on helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, fostering confidence and encouraging positive engagement with school life.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group mentoring to pupils.
• Build professional relationships with students, families and staff.
• Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Encourage active participation in learning and school activities.
• Monitor progress, keep accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and external agencies as required.
• Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people in education, mentoring, youth work or a support role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Patience, resilience and the capacity to build trusting relationships.
• Proactive and flexible approach to supporting learners.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
