Learning Support Assistant – 1:1 SEN Support

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with pupils who have moderate to mild special educational needs, including ADHD, autism and dyslexia, as well as behavioural challenges. The role is based in a Good Ofsted‑rated secondary school in Newham, East London, and offers a full‑time, on‑site schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to designated students, adapting activities to meet their specific needs.
• Assist in both one‑to‑one and small‑group settings, fostering inclusive learning environments.
• Collaborate with teachers and senior staff to implement personalised learning plans.
• Monitor and record student progress, reporting observations to the teaching team.
• Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive social interactions.

Required profile

• Passion for supporting learners with special educational needs.
• Reliability, punctuality and a strong commitment to the role.
• Experience as a teaching or learning support assistant (primary or secondary) is desirable.
• A bachelor's degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
