Learning Support Assistant – Emotional & Academic Support

About the role

Join a welcoming primary school in Bristol as a Learning Support Assistant for the new academic year. You will provide one‑to‑one emotional and academic assistance to children, helping them thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised one‑to‑one support, adapting teaching methods to each child’s needs.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Assist children with tasks, assignments and activities to ensure progress.
• Implement strategies that promote social and emotional development.
• Run small‑group booster sessions to help pupils catch up.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate updates to parents or caregivers.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with additional needs, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for child development.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Flexibility to adapt strategies to individual needs.
• Proactive, collaborative approach with teachers and school staff.
