Learning Support Assistant (Fixed‑term)

About the role

This fixed‑term position offers the chance to support learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a well‑established further education college. You will work closely with teaching staff and the Learning Support team to remove barriers and help students thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group learning and accessibility support for SEN learners.
• Assist students in accessing college programmes, services and enrichment activities.
• Support personal care, mobility and wellbeing where required.
• Help learners develop independence, study skills and self‑advocacy.
• Implement and review individual support plans and EHCP outcomes.
• Ensure assistive technology and specialist equipment are operational.
• Act as the College First Aider (training provided if needed).

Required profile

• Experience supporting learners with SEN, additional needs or vulnerable individuals.
• Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Team‑player with a proactive, flexible approach.
• Comfortable providing personal care and mobility support when required.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one.
