Learning Support Assistant – Flexible School Role

About the role

Join a supportive school environment in Yate as a Learning Support Assistant. You will work directly with pupils who have a range of additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence. The role offers flexible full‑time or part‑time hours to suit your schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to learners with SEND, SEMH, ASC, MLD, SLD and other needs.
• Assist pupils in developing independence and engaging with classroom activities.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs and other staff to tailor support strategies.
• Create a calm, positive and encouraging learning environment.
• Monitor progress and report observations to the teaching team.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or vulnerable adults in school or community settings.
• Patient, caring and adaptable attitude.
• Confidence in supporting a diverse range of learner needs.
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check through Hays.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of SEND terminology and strategies.
