Learning Support Assistant – Flexible Supply in SEN Settings

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to provide flexible, short‑term supply across specialist education settings. You will work directly with pupils who have SEM‑H, EHCP and behavioural needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEM‑H, EHCP and behavioural challenges in PRUs, alternative provision and SEN departments.
• Deliver tailored learning activities and help students access the curriculum.
• Monitor progress, record observations and share feedback with teachers and care‑teams.
• Assist in managing challenging behaviour and promote a calm, inclusive environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience in PRUs, SEN, alternative provision, youth work or similar settings.
• Calm, resilient attitude with ability to build positive relationships.
• Confidence supporting young people with emotional and behavioural challenges.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Passionate, caring and enthusiastic about helping learners succeed.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEND legislation and EHCP processes.
• Understanding of SEM‑H and behavioural management strategies.
