Learning Support Assistant – Foundation

About the role

The Learning Support Assistant will join the Foundation Department on the Slough and Langley campuses, working 15 hours per week across the 37 term‑time weeks. This part‑time role supports students in accessing the curriculum, achieving learning goals and reaching their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Support whole classes, small groups or individual learners in line with college policies and EHCPs.
• Assist with planning, delivery and evaluation of learning activities.
• Help students overcome physical, emotional or learning barriers.
• Support assignments, exam preparation and the development of English, mathematics and ICT skills.
• Monitor student behaviour and maintain confidential records.
• Adapt learning materials and operate specialist equipment as required.

Required profile

• Positive attitude with experience working with young adults, preferably in an educational setting.
• Flexibility to work across departments or remotely when needed.
• Level 2 qualifications (GCSE A‑C or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Experience or relevant qualifications supporting learners with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia or Dyspraxia.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet physical demands, including providing mobility support.
• Commitment to college policies on risk management, diversity, health & safety, data protection and safeguarding.

Required skills

• Level 2 English qualification.
• Level 2 Mathematics qualification.
• Knowledge of strategies for supporting learners with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
• Ability to adapt learning resources and use specialist equipment.
