Learning Support Assistant – Full‑time, Burgess Hill

About the role

This full‑time position supports a welcoming and inclusive school in Burgess Hill. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will help pupils overcome learning barriers and achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support across the school.
• Assist children with diverse learning needs to access the curriculum.
• Collaborate with class teachers to deliver targeted interventions.
• Support literacy, numeracy and classroom‑based learning activities.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
• Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and personal development.
• Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Background in education, childcare, youth work or mentoring is beneficial.
• Patient, caring and enthusiastic approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to individual pupil needs.
• Passion for supporting children's learning and development.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.
