Learning Support Assistant – Inclusive Primary School (Tower Hamlets)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join an ambitious, inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets. The role starts in September 2026 and focuses on supporting pupils with complex communication needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within mainstream classrooms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with ASD and communication challenges.
• Deliver structured interventions targeting language development, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Utilise visual timetables, sensory resources and communication strategies to enhance engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and specialist professionals to monitor progress and adapt support plans.
• Help create a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment both in the classroom and on the playground.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism or speech and language needs.
• Confidence delivering structured interventions and supporting individual learning plans.
• Strong communication, teamwork and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive, resilient and passionate about inclusive education.

Required skills

• Makaton (preferred but not essential).
• PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
• Sensory integration strategies.
