Learning Support Assistant

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant to join an excellent secondary school in Liverpool from September 2026. The role involves providing targeted assistance to students with additional needs, helping them engage fully with the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to students with additional needs.
• Assist the class teacher with classroom management, preparation of materials and implementation of lesson plans.
• Support behavioural management to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Promote inclusion by ensuring every student feels valued and supported.
• Monitor student progress and help them meet set learning objectives.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one) registered with the online update service.
• Ability to provide two professional references covering the last 24 months.
• Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (desirable, training will be provided if needed).
