Learning Support Assistant

About the role

The Learning Support Assistant provides essential assistance to students with disabilities or learning difficulties across Newcastle and Stafford college sites. Working on a term‑time basis, the role can be full‑time or part‑time and offers the chance to contribute to a highly praised educational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support learners with SEND requirements in completing their coursework.
• Prepare classrooms, equipment and learning materials in line with individual needs.
• Track and record learner progress under the guidance of the Lead Support Tutor.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to create a calm, supportive learning atmosphere.
• Assist with the day‑to‑day care and wellbeing of students during allocated hours.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications and experience in supporting learners with disabilities or learning difficulties.
• Flexibility to work full‑time or part‑time, with term‑time availability (37 weeks per year).
• Ability to follow direction from senior support staff and maintain accurate records.
• Commitment to the college’s inclusive ethos and high standards of student care.
