Learning Support Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our expanding team at Shamley Green and West Horsley. You will work directly with children and young people who have complex anxiety, SEMH and mental health needs, using animal‑assisted therapeutic activities to enhance learning, wellbeing and personal growth.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group learning sessions, incorporating animal‑assisted therapy and educational activities.
• Assist with daily animal care, including walking goats and ponies, to engage and motivate young people.
• Conduct informal assessments and contribute to individual therapeutic and educational goal‑setting.
• Maintain accurate records, ensure confidentiality and comply with legal requirements.
• Prepare and deliver structured therapy workshops, learning plans and training sessions for staff or volunteers.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people who have emotional, social, behavioural or mental health needs.
• Resilient and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to roll up sleeves, think creatively and work collaboratively.
• Flexibility to work term‑time, non‑term‑time and one regular weekend day.
