Learning Support Assistant

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant to join an excellent secondary school in Ormskirk starting September 2026. The role involves providing tailored support to students with additional needs and contributing to a positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support to students with additional needs, helping them engage and succeed in their studies.
• Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, preparing materials, and implementing lesson plans.
• Help manage and improve student behaviour, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment.
• Encourage inclusion by ensuring students feel valued and supported in the classroom.
• Monitor progress and help students achieve their learning goals.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
• Up‑to‑date Safeguarding training (desirable, training will be provided).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Ability to provide two professional references covering the last 24 months.
