Learning Support Assistant – One-to-One Emotional & Academic Support

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive primary schools in Swindon from September. You will provide one‑to‑one emotional and academic support to children who need extra help, both inside and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised one‑to‑one support, adapting teaching methods to each child’s needs.
• Work closely with the classroom teacher to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Assist children with tasks, assignments and classroom activities to ensure progress.
• Implement strategies that promote social and emotional development.
• Run small‑group booster and intervention sessions for pupils who are falling behind.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, achievements and areas for improvement.
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about the child’s development.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with additional needs, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for child development.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Flexibility to adapt strategies to individual needs.
• Proactive, collaborative approach working with teachers and school staff.
