Learning Support Assistant (Personal Care) – Walthamstow

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (Personal Care) to join a college in Walthamstow. The role starts in September and offers a rewarding opportunity to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across a range of curriculum areas.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group learning support to SEND students.
• Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, changing, feeding and mobility support.
• Promote independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
• Adapt learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
• Maintain accurate records of learner progress and daily support.
• Support the implementation of EHCP targets and individual support plans.
• Collaborate with lecturers, the Additional Learning Support Team and safeguarding staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting students or adults with SEND.
• Experience providing personal care in education or care settings.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
• Patient, compassionate and reliable approach.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Required skills

• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word.
• Microsoft Outlook.
• Email communication.
