Learning Support Assistant – Post‑16 SEN Role

About the role

We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist post‑16 SEN school in Greenwich. The role starts in September and runs full‑time (9:00‑15:30) supporting learners aged 16‑19 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to students, helping them engage with functional skills, vocational activities and life‑skills learning.
• Assist classroom staff in managing behaviour, using calm and consistent approaches.
• Help create structured routines and pathways toward greater independence for each learner.
• Collaborate with the teaching team to monitor progress and adapt support strategies.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people who have SEMH or behavioural challenges.
• Ability to remain calm and steady in difficult situations.
• Clear and confident communication skills.
• Minimum qualifications: A‑Levels in English and Maths.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.

Required skills

• Understanding of positive behaviour support principles.
• Familiarity with Team Teach methodology (training provided).
