Learning Support Assistant – Reception (High Needs)

About the role
A nurturing primary school in Lambeth is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work one‑to‑one with a Reception pupil who has high needs. The role starts in September 2026 with an immediate trial period.
Key responsibilities
- Provide emotional, sensory and communication support throughout the school day.
- Help the pupil settle, access learning, follow visual routines and develop early social skills.
- Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher and external professionals to deliver structured care plans.
- Support transitions and sensory regulation in a busy mainstream Reception setting.
Required profile
- Experience supporting high‑needs pupils or working in EYFS.
- Patient, calm and able to follow structured care and learning plans.
- Confident working one‑to‑one in a busy classroom.
- Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with young learners.
