Learning Support Assistant (Reception) – Level 3

About the role

We are looking for a caring Learning Support Assistant to join the Reception team of a welcoming primary school in Welling. The role focuses on supporting young children during the early years of their education, helping them develop socially, emotionally and academically.

Key responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning within a Reception classroom.
• Assist children with early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Support learning through play and child‑led activities.
• Help children develop positive social and emotional skills.
• Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and development.
• Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support children with additional needs where required.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
• Assist with observations, assessments and learning records.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.

Required profile

• Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years or Supporting Teaching and Learning.
• Experience working with children within an EYFS or Reception setting.
• Strong understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
