Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School (Bromley)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive secondary school in Bromley. Working closely with teachers and the SEND department, you will help students with additional learning needs access the curriculum and achieve their personal best.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with SEND within the classroom and through small‑group or one‑to‑one interventions.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons.
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual student needs.
• Encourage student engagement, confidence and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and uphold the school’s behaviour policy.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SEND team and external professionals.
• Monitor student progress and record observations.
• Provide pastoral support and help maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
• Support students during breaktimes, educational visits and school activities as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school setting.
• Experience supporting students with SEND (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties) is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, caring and resilient approach.
