Learning Support Assistant – Secondary Schools (East Lancashire)

About the role

The Learning Support Assistant will work across a range of secondary schools in East Lancashire, providing in‑class assistance to students in Key Stages 3 and 4. This flexible position can be short‑term, day‑to‑day supply or long‑term placement, ideal for those who want to make a positive impact in education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils, including those with SEN.
• Assist teachers with lesson delivery, classroom management and behaviour support.
• Adapt learning activities to meet diverse needs and promote engagement.
• Support students with behavioural and learning difficulties.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with young people or in an educational setting (desirable).
• Patient, supportive and adaptable attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
