Learning Support Assistant – SEMH Specialist (Full‑Time)

About the role

The school is a specialist SEN institution in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, dedicated to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional learning difficulties. We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our team on a full‑time, long‑term basis, providing one‑to‑one and small‑group support that helps students engage with learning and develop confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tailored 1:1 and small‑group assistance to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Support classroom teachers and therapists in implementing behaviour‑management strategies.
• Monitor student progress and report observations to the teaching team.
• Promote a safe, inclusive environment both inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or related challenges.
• Enhanced DBS check on the update service.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff.
• Commitment to the wellbeing and development of each pupil.

Required skills

• Understanding of SEMH issues and appropriate support techniques.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic record‑keeping and observation reporting.
