Learning Support Assistant (SEN) – Primary School

About the role

Join a welcoming primary school in Sefton as a Learning Support Assistant, providing dedicated support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the primary age range. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to help children access learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual targets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils with SEND.
• Assist teachers in adapting lessons and resources to meet diverse needs.
• Support pupils displaying challenging behaviours, ensuring a safe learning environment.
• Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers, parents, and external professionals.
• Monitor and record pupil progress towards individual targets.

Required profile

• Recent experience working with children in a UK primary school or similar setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or moderate learning difficulties.
• Confidence in managing additional needs and challenging behaviours.
• Patient, resilient, nurturing attitude with a genuine passion for helping children.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
