About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join a supportive secondary school in the London Borough of Havering. The role involves working closely with students who have special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑class and one‑to‑one support for pupils with SEN, including autism, learning difficulties and SEMH needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering differentiated activities and adapting resources.
• Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour‑support strategies in line with school policy.
• Support pupils during transitions, break times and school‑wide activities.
• Encourage independence and engagement, helping students achieve individual learning targets.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or youth setting.
• Understanding of SEN needs and inclusive education practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and a positive approach to supporting learners.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
