About the role
We are looking for dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our college team and provide essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The role is part‑time and based on‑site, helping learners access programmes, develop independence and achieve their personal education goals.
Key responsibilities
- Assist learners with educational and social development under the direction of support managers and curriculum leaders.
- Promote self‑advocacy and independent learning skills.
- Contribute to the assessment of learners’ progress and help develop person‑centred support plans.
- Provide personal care, safety supervision and well‑being support as needed.
- Identify barriers to learning and implement intervention strategies.
- Maintain and operate specialist equipment, assistive technologies and related facilities.
- Support learners with physical or medical needs, ensuring appropriate supervision.
- Liaise with external agencies, parents and key workers, forwarding relevant information to managers.
- Attend meetings and contribute to the review of individual support plans.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a similar support role, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of the needs of individuals with SEN.
- Ability to work under multiple managers and as part of a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency in operating specialist educational equipment and assistive technologies.
