Learning Support Assistant – SEND (Billericay)

About the role

We are seeking a patient, enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Billericay. The role involves supporting pupils in mainstream and specialist settings, helping them achieve confidence, independence and academic progress.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEND.
• Assist pupils with learning, engagement and classroom activities.
• Support development of confidence, independence and social skills.
• Implement individual education and behaviour plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
• Maintain a calm, positive and nurturing learning environment.
• Manage challenging behaviour when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Reliable, adaptable and confident working as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to safeguarding.
