Learning Support Assistant – SEND/SEMH Support

About the role

Spencer Clarke Group is looking for Learning Support Assistants to work in mainstream schools across Darlington, providing targeted help to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. You will work closely with teachers and SEN teams to ensure each child can access the curriculum and make progress.

Key responsibilities

• Support individual pupils and small groups on a one‑to‑one basis.
• Assist with classroom activities, differentiated tasks and learning resources.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Help deliver EHCP targets and intervention programmes.
• Maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND coordinators and other support staff.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting.
• Caring, proactive attitude with strong communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to different school environments.
• Passion for inclusive education and supporting diverse learning needs.
