Learning Support Assistant – Specialist SEND School

About the role

The school in Ware specialises in supporting pupils with moderate, severe and complex learning difficulties. We are looking for a caring Learning Support Assistant to help create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child can develop confidence, independence and academic skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to pupils, enabling them to access classroom activities and build independence.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialist staff to deliver personalised support plans tailored to each pupil’s needs.
• Promote communication, social interaction and confidence through positive, targeted activities.
• Assist with classroom routines, helping maintain a calm, structured and supportive learning atmosphere.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children with SEND, particularly those with moderate, severe or complex needs.
• Patient, compassionate and adaptable approach to a range of additional needs.
• Passion for fostering academic, social and emotional development.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
