Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant (SEND)

About the role

The Birtenshaw Group is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to work alongside qualified teachers in a specialist SEND environment. You will help create a safe, stimulating setting where pupils can thrive and achieve their best.

Key responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering curriculum and therapy activities, including swimming pool and sports sessions.
• Maintain routines and consistent approaches across small classes (8‑10 pupils).
• Assist with transport runs before and after school hours when required.
• Undertake additional responsibilities that may attract extra pay.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting pupils with complex needs.
• Able to work full‑time (38.5 hrs per week) across term time and training weeks.
• Willing to attend mandatory training and refresher sessions.
• Capable of supporting pupils in all therapy and curriculum activities, including aquatic and sports environments.
