Learning Support Assistant (Teaching Assistant) – Southampton

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑regarded, inclusive all‑through school in Southampton to hire a dedicated Learning Support Assistant. You will work closely with teachers to help pupils, especially those with SEND, achieve their full potential in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with additional learning needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and managing classroom resources.
• Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
• Help prepare teaching materials and organise resources.
• Promote a safe and positive learning atmosphere.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people (school experience desirable).
• Passion for supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
• Patience, resilience and adaptability.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
• Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE) is advantageous but not essential.
